Day 1

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and Transfer to Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), located approximately 55 km (about 1 hour’s drive) from Arusha, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide from M&M Sawa Safaris. After a short briefing about your upcoming adventure, enjoy a scenic transfer through lush landscapes and small villages to your comfortable lodge in Arusha. Arusha serves as the safari capital of northern Tanzania and lies at the foot of Mount Meru. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure, relax after your international flight, enjoy the lodge’s gardens or swimming pool, and prepare for the exciting safari days ahead.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park – Elephants & Baobab Trees

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, covering approximately 120 km with a driving time of 2 to 2.5 hours. Known as the “Land of Giants,” Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds, iconic ancient baobab trees, and rich wildlife diversity. Upon entering the park, begin your full-day game drive, exploring open savannahs, riverine forests, and rocky outcrops along the Tarangire River, which attracts animals throughout the year. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, lions, and an impressive variety of bird species. Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch inside the park before continuing your game drive in the afternoon. As the sun sets, exit the park and transfer to your lodge near Karatu for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3

Serengeti National Park – Journey into The Endless Plains

Following an early breakfast, begin your journey to the Serengeti National Park, traveling approximately 320 km over 6 to 7 hours, passing through the scenic Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This drive is an experience in itself, offering breathtaking views of volcanic highlands and vast open plains. Optional stops can be made at Olduvai Gorge, famously known as the Cradle of Mankind, or at a Maasai village to learn about traditional pastoral life. Upon entering the Serengeti, enjoy an en-route game drive as wildlife sightings begin immediately. The Central Serengeti (Seronera area) is known for its year-round wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and large herds of herbivores. After a picnic lunch and afternoon game viewing, arrive at your tented camp to enjoy dinner under the African sky.

Day 4

Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the legendary Serengeti National Park, home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Rise early for a sunrise game drive, one of the best times to spot predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs while they are most active. The early morning light also provides exceptional photography opportunities. After breakfast, continue your game drives across the endless plains, following wildlife movements and, depending on the season, witnessing parts of the Great Migration. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park and spend the afternoon tracking wildlife and birdlife across different habitats. Day 5

After an early breakfast, depart the Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Crater, covering approximately 150 km with a travel time of 3 to 4 hours. Descend 600 meters into the crater floor for an unforgettable half-day game drive inside this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, flamingos, and the rare black rhinoceros. Its diverse habitats, grasslands, swamps, forests, and lakes, support wildlife year-round. Enjoy a picnic lunch beside a hippo pool before ascending the crater rim. Later, transfer back to Arusha or a nearby lodge for your final night.
